Mosquito Lagoon, Florida
Located in Volusia and Brevard counties, Mosquito Lagoon used to be known for it’s world class inshore fishing for species such as red drum, snook, sea trout and tarpon. Years of industrial and fertilizer runoff along with countless sewage spills have decimated it’s ecosystem. Large amounts of bacteria have caused algae blooms that have suffocated the native sea grass and have caused it to die off in record amounts. Clean water and the revitalization of this grass are key to the lagoon’s survival. Recently, a catch and release order for red drum has been instituted for this area due to their dwindling numbers. Help save Central Florida’s most precious ecosystem. Again, 50% of our profits go to shoreline and watershed cleanups that are making a difference in the Lagoon.
